Opening Friday, September 17
Jack Goes Boating
I thought I was done with dark horse, indie love stories about characters with whom I cannot identify, but Philip Seymour Hoffman’s directoral debut has changed my mind.
Hoffman plays a nobody named Jack, who gets fixed up with another nobody named Connie (Amy Ryan) by their married mutual friends. After years of being alone, it seems that their individual quirks seem to have finally found a match. Meanwhile, their friends are beginning to confront the issues that arise during a long marriage.
Jack Goes Boating is opening on limited screens this week (expanding on September 24th), but seek it out if you were wondering what date movie to check out. Leave M. Night Shyamalan’s Devil to people who don’t know how to quit destroying their brains with nonsense.
