Life During Wartime
Todd Solondz, the maker of the Happiness and Palindromes, has returned with the strong cast of Allison Janney (The West Wing), Paul Reubens (Pee Wee’s Big Adventure), Michael K. Williams (The Wire), Ciaran Hinds (Rome) and others to tell the story of…well…awkward relationships and strange family dynamics, as far as I can tell. If it were up to my experience with “Happiness,” which left me pointlessly uncomfortable, I’d skip this one altogether. But I’d never pass up an opportunity to see Paul Reubens return to the big screen, and I can’t not support Omar Little in anything he does (that includes “Trapped in a Closet”). I probably won’t make it out to the IFC Theater to check this out, but I will think twice about whether I should add it to my Netflix queue in about four months.
Editor’s note: I just realized that the wiseguys responsible for making the trailer forgot to mention or show that Paris Hilton is in this movie. Therefore, I’ll try to forget that I said that I might see this movie. Thanks, Paris, you cinematic deal breaker, you! You ruined it! You ruined it!
